On the subject of the “Soil and Groundwater Remediation Web”, in 2004 there was an establishment of a total of 9 main categories with 37 sub categories for the network. For this working year, year of 2005, issues are brought up concerning the updating and maintaining of several categories and functions of the network/website for the following parts: online newsletter section, displaying of web site key areas, site map, policy, pollution site search function, education web area, and the overall appearance of the web site. Furthermore, electronic notifications will be upgraded to have electronic notifications be sent after the monthly maintenance. Also the English web page would pose as a major area of work, which is currently 97% converted to English, including memorable events, the remediation site introduction page, and thus adjusting the overall web site appearance. On the subject of organizing internal administrative tasks, in the 2004 work year issues that were touched upon include: designing of a work task recorder, and designing of a plan for electronically converting current information. For this working year, year of 2005, the issues include: controlling the maintenance cost, how to handle large projects/cases, how to plan projects/cases and monitoring these projects/cases, monitoring government related work, and maintaining the electronic library and its related systems. Among these, the issues of controlling of maintenance cost and of planning and monitoring of projects/cases will require the approval from the department that is in charge of funds control before there can be any advancement. And if the data needed to perform these tasks are converted to a digital format such as on a computer, the required data could be easily recovered and used which would also improve work efficiency. Also, the current plan to complete a Soil and Groundwater Pollution Remediation Management Board library of 2 thousand books still needs about 4 hundred of those books to be sorted and placed into the library. This parallels the ongoing task of the company to monitor data safety and to fix loop holes in the system security. For the aspect of the improving system efficiency and internet security management, the project constantly maintain and software/hardware systems, internet security, data base backup, consulting for the Soil Groundwater Pollution Remediation Management Board, and the writing of a manual and the updating of this manual. The project establish a firewall software to reduce the possibility of an attack from web related content for the server. As for the users of the company computers, there will be available answers to any questions pertaining to the usage of these computers. This parallels the ongoing task of the company to monitor personal data safety and to easily assist in answering questions. And to establish a data modem which would reduce electronic data lost and thus reduces risk of losing data.
